Introduction

This is a development platform for the DigiClerk for Parish Councils (DC4PC) service.  It is is not a government website. It should be.

There are some 10,500 parish councils (PC) in England.  They are, generally, run by eight unpaid volunteer councillors and one paid clerk. That’s 94,500 ‘staff’ dispersed across England.

Unlike borough, district or county councils there is no HR, legal, finance, data protection department or much of a support system.  Yet, as the lowest level of local government they are subject to the same rules and regulations and, are the closest to the taxpayer.

As an experienced manager in the commercial world, and new to the role of parish council clerk, I have been shocked by the lack of support and information given to this group of front line, local authority people. Yes, there are regional local council associations and a national association but not all parish councils can afford their fees and they do not always provide quick enough advice.

This software as a service (SaaS) platform from DigiClerk is a toolbox designed to help PCs and allow them to work more effectively, efficiently, and securely.  Click here for an overview of DC4PC.

Most of the platform is free.  Some of the more sophisticated SaaS solutions need a subscription.
