DC4PC Your PC

Introduction

This is an introduction page and a development platform for the DigiClerk for Parish Councils (DC4PC) service. Our apologies, this platform is more about ‘function over form’. It does what it says on the tin! It is is not a government website. It should be.

Domain name. Currently this platform sits on ‘auxco.uk’ but will, most likely, sit on ‘pc-gov.uk’. We will be able to extend those domains to include Parish Councils (PC) and give then a unique identity and platform.  Great Waldingfield Parish Council could have the domain name ‘gw.pc-gov.uk’.

There are some 10,500 parish councils (PC) in England. They are, generally, run by eight unpaid volunteer councillors and one paid clerk. That’s 94,500 ‘staff’ dispersed across England. Unlike borough, district or county councils there is no HR, legal, finance, data protection department or much of a support system for PCs.  Yet, as the lowest level of local government they are subject to the same rules and regulations and, are the closest to the taxpayer.

As an experienced manager in the commercial world, and new to the role of PC clerk, I have been shocked by the lack of support and information given to this group of front line, local authority people. Yes, there are regional local council associations and a national association but not all parish councils can afford their fees and they do not always provide quick enough advice.

This software as a service (SaaS) platform from DigiClerk is a toolbox designed to help PCs and allow them to work more effectively, efficiently, and securely.

Most of the platform is free.  Some of the more sophisticated SaaS solutions need a subscription.

There are two websites here: DC4PC website; and Your PCYour Parish Council Home Page.
